A few days ago I wrote about my Notebook Compaq 725 CA hangning on reboot
after a reinstall using restore cd's and installing SP2 and Norton antivirus
2002.
An MVP suggested I call Microsoft, wich I did. Well...I gotta tip my hat to
those folks at Microsoft. I spent two hours on the phone yesterday and one
hour to-day with technicians trying to solve a problem which I stated from
the start was more of an inconvenience than a big problem. I thought it was
going to be a simple fix, but those folks won't let go until they find a
solution. And in the process I'm learning more about the operating system
than I ever did before.......
They have a research team looking into it and they will call me back on
monday.
Personally, I think it would be cheaper for them to just send me a new
notebook...

put /sos at the end of multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows
XP Pro" /fastdetect so it looks like multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
\WINDOWS="Windows XP Pro" /fastdetect /sos in boot.ini then reboot you'll be
able to see what's going on.
