In IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and check the "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts" box.

Outlook 2003? Due to numerous complaints, they made Outlook open new windows for links in email, regardless of the settings in IE.

Diane,

Thank you for your response. I did have the "Re-use" checkbox set in the browser but to no-avail when launching a link in my 2003 Outlook emails. After having become so frustrated over this issue and researching the web with no luck, I decided this forum would be the best place to find an answer -- and you provided it.

But, you're sure, no way to overcome this in Outlook 2003?

Thanks again,
Don

At this time, no, there is no way to change it. I don't expect it's going to change in SP2 (later this year) either.
