Hi

I am re-recording as Powerpoint help suggests and clicking
on next slide then pressing ESC but the sound file deletes
from that next slide. I am recording narration over a
video clip.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

You need to press 'Escape' after you re-record the narration for a
particular slide - otherwise, it starts re-recording over the next slide.

Go to the particular slide for which you want to re-record your narration -
choose Slide Show | Record Narration.

Record the narration for that slide and press Escape - remember never press
the spacebar! Do each slide separately so that you don't go to another slide
by mistake.

Hi Geetesh
It's me again. Still having problems!!
I've tried this and the sound file isn't appearing or
playing when i press escape at the end of the narration
for that slide. It only works when I press esc on the next
slide but that deletes the sound file for that next
slide. Any ideas why? We are using Powerpoint 2000.

Many thanks again!!

Another approach would be to link the narration files (choose the option to
link before recording) - thereafter, you can open individual linked
narration sequences (all WAV files) and edit them, or re-record them using
an audio editor:

If this does not help, do get back and we can do the whole thing again step
by step.

thanks for that I seem to have sorted that issue out now.
Can you please help me with another.
On some of the slides the next slide comes in before the
previous slide has finished.

Would it be possible for me to call you and try and
explain what is now happening. My email address is
(e-mail address removed) if you want to email me your
number. You'll be glad to hear I am nearly there -just
need to sort this last thing out.

Many thanks again for your help.
Yvonne

I think the best way to include narration in PowerPoint is to record your
narrations outside PowerPoint and get them into the program using transition
sounds - that way you are sure to achieve perfect timing (as explained in
the 'PowerPoint and Narration' URL I provided earlier - look under 'Second
Way')

Calling me could be difficult since we might be in entirely different time
zones - and expensive too, since I'm based in India.

Further, posting in the newsgroup here would be best because there are so
many other people here who could help you - and so many other users would
benefit from that info.
