Nope. Take a peek at your application/system event log and see if there are
any errors being reported by Outlook. Event logs can be reviewed by opening
the Events management snap-in. (start | run | eventvwr.msc | ok button)

I've developed a chronic problem with Outlook 2003. Seems that when I
start it up, I can use it for about 30 seconds before it locks up. It just
sits there twirling the hour glass. I can close the window, but that's all,
and of course, when I do I get the End Program dialog box, which I click on
End Program and it sends info to Microsoft about the problem (which I
never. of course, hear back from).
It seems to happen most when I select a message in the inbox and send it
to junk mail. Another thing I notice is that the send/receive stops at about
12% every time.

No additional entries by outlook before or after this one? The reason that
I ask is that I could fathom a guess that you have an incompatible 3rd party
software installed that put an addin into Outlook and that is what is
causing Outlook to barf.

One (of many) 3rd party product that gives Outlook 2003 fits is WinFax Pro.
(All 9.x versions are not compatible with Outlook 2003.)

In the event log under Applications, (nothing in System) there is only
"Application Hung" then the following;

10.0 is not compatible with Outlook 2003.

The only additional entries are informational in nature. I know about the
incompatibilities of WinFax Pro 9.0 as I used it with Office XP and had
problems, so upgraded to WinFax Pro 10.0.
The only recent add-in that was added is one for video e-mail and one for
Paypal. I've even de-selected those to no avail.
It seems more like an issue I read about that outlook is having problems
with html tags in certain emails. Nearly all the emails I attempt to set as
junki mail, the second I right click on the message and mark it as junk
mail, Outlook hangs. Maybe there's something in these Spam mail's html code
that causes it to act such???

Symantec tells me 10.2 *IS* compatible. I've been running it with Outlook since I installed Office 2003 last November. This problem I'm having now just started last week.

Try creating a new mail profile. (don't copy the existing one. create new
because anything in 0x00000000 is something weird in the HKCU registry
section.)

By the way, I would guess the Symantec technician doesn't know how to read.
The previous link supplied clearly states "WinFax PRO 10.02 and earlier are
not compatible with Microsoft's Outlook 2003. A replacement CD may resolve
the issue for WinFax PRO 10.02. To solve this problem, contact Symantec
Technical Support. "

IMHO, uninstall the freakin beast and see if you have problems. ;)

The only other error message in the log file is;

Hanging application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 11.0.5510.0, hang module hungapp,
version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
