I had to re-install (same directory) XP back due to some
problems. Now the short-cuts, programs, and links are all
lost.

The ms word that was running previously does not run. The
directory is stil there and when I click the icon the
mesage appears that I ned to run set up again.

Additionally, other programs also do not run?

What is my course of action? re-install all the software
AGIAN.

Any help on this would be appereciated?

Thanks!

How did you do the reinstall? You should have either put the CD in while the
OS was booted, and it would have given you the option to upgrade, or boot
off the CD and bypass the repair option using Recovery Console, selecting
instead to repair the currently installed OS once it scanned and found it.
You should have not lost your settings if you did it this way.

I did the clean install and that may have caused all my
grief.

I guess I have to re-install all my software?

Should I delete my old programs like word and excel
straing from the delete buttoen as they do not appear on
the Add/remove Program?

thanks!

Since your registry is relatively clean, you might as well reinstall over
the top of the old files.
