Re-installing Windows XP

Can a pre-installed version of Windows XP professional (on
my laptop) be transferred to my new PC (running Windows XP
Home Edition) if a new operating system is installed on my
laptop i.e. I install the Home Edition on it as I wish to
set up a network and use the desktop PC as the Central
Machine operating Windows XP professional. Is this
possible or even allowed ?

Sorry, no. If your laptop came with XP preinstalled, it's an OEM
version, and the license for OEM versions restricts it to the
first computer it's installed on. Once installed, it may not be
installed on another machine, even if taken off the first one.
