re-installing HP pocket PC

After connecting a PDA to the PC when Activesync had been un-knowingly
removed, the PDA can no longer be recognised. The HP website help suggests
deleting the USB device record then re-install Activesync. How is the device
record deleted?

In device manager, under the USB section - if you do actually see it there.
You might want to post this in microsoft.public.pocketpc for more help.
 
Open Device Manager, select the USB and remove the ports,
reboot.
