re installed XP now sound does not work.

I had to re install XP now my system says no mixer device found. I have no
system sounds or any other sounds. I had to format the partition for the re
install due to virus problem. what should I do to get the sound back
 
Did you reinstall your sound drivers. Go to device manager and check. Right
click on My Computer/Manage/Device Manager

When you reinstall Windows, you need to install all the drivers for the
hardware in your system. XP comes with some drivers preinstalled, but
of course not all of them. You need to install drivers for your
soundcard.

Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

You will need to install the sound card drivers if you want it to work.
They would be on the CD that came with the computer, unless you
installed the card yourself and then you will need to get the CD that
came with it.
 
I do not have the original driver CD's. I went to the site from dell
(ventura) and I get a message that the site does not exist.

Install the sound drivers for your sound card or onboard sound chipset.
