I have PC with Window XP PRo on it. It has been hacked
and a number of auto download crap is on it. How do I re-
install Windows? Do I need to reformat the drive? If so
does anyone know where I can get "how to" on doing that?

You can reinstall win xp, just put the cd in the drive and run the setup, or reboot w/ the cd in the drive and boot from it. If you reinstall you will lose all the data that is on the computer. You can run the repair option from the xp cd. It looks like a reinstall but just refreshed the system files, no loss of data. Here is an explaination

there is lot of good info on this site. Click on the link for how to run a repair install.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
