re-install of MediaPlayer9

I installed MP 10 and really don't like it. In trying to
re-install MP 9, I used the Control Panel utility to
uninstall MP10, then re-downloaded the MP9 software. The
MP 9 install script indicates there "is already a newer
version of MP installed, so the install must now exit..."

Can anyone help me rid myself of MP10 and get back to
MP9? -- I am running XP SP2; everything up to date.

When I initiated the Control Panel|UNINSTALL dialog for WMP10, XP prompted
for reversion back to WMP9. Are you certain that it is not already
functional?
