What do you mean by "put XP pro over it"? Do you mean you are running a
dual-boot, or that you upgraded 98 to XP?

If the former, boot with a Windows 98 start up disk, and at the prompt type
SYS C: and press the Enter key on the keyboard. Remove the disk, and
reboot - you'll go straight to 98. If XP is on a different partition or
disk, format the partition or disk on which XP is installed. If it is on
the same partition as 98, delete the folder in which XP is installed.

In C:, delete the files pagefile.sys, boot.ini and any file beginning with
nt.

Hi Chris,

What sort of pointers are you looking for? If you opted to backup the
existing system when you upgraded, then the option to uninstall shoudl be
under Add & Remove in the control panel. If not, then you will need to
reformat (and possibly repartition) in order to reinstall Win98.

If
You installed by running the XP CD from the 98, taking Upgrade
and
Took up the option to save old system files
and
Have not converted to NTFS

then in Add/Remove Programs there will be an 'uninstall windows' which
will put you back to 98 as it was.

If not, you will have to backup all data files, then boot the Win98
startup floppy, use FDISK to remove the present partition (a Non-DOS one
if NTFS) and create a new DOS Primary one. Reboot to FORMAT C: then go
to the Win98 CD and run SETUP
