I geuss the question I should have asked is,if I'm running windows xp home
edition,can I use windows xp office programs in windows xp home
edition?Thanks.

Yes.
 
Just a sidebar note. Not only can one install Office XP on Windows XP Home,
but one can also install Office 2000 and Office 2003 on Windows XP Home.
The same holds true for installing Office on Windows XP Pro systems, too.
