Anybody have a phone number for Microsoft re-authentication of my XP OS?
I have replaced my mobo and hardrive.

On the screen to activate pick the telephone option, then enter your
country. The phone number will be on screen. You need to be at this screen
anyway to use phone activation.

Have you

1. reinstalled Windows? If so, have you tried the Internet activation?

2. not reinstalled Windows? If not, you need do nothing.

Yes, I have to reinstall WinXP. I understand if the configuration of the
computer is changed the auto-authentication on the internet will not match
the original configuration, consequently, the OS will not be authenticated.

Ok, we will try that route.
Thank you,

Depends on now much is changed. It also depends if you have
activated/changed hardware significantly within the last 120 days or
not. Try Internet activation first. You may not have to do phone activation.

I upgraded a computer and changed the following:

motherboard
RAM
Video Card
NIC
Audio Card
Floppy drive
Replaced a CD RW ROM with a DVD ROM

and on line activation worked fine even though I had to reinstall
Windows and I was/am running a generic OEM Spanish version of XP Home.

Thank you for the information. I only changed the mobo, hardrive and ram. I
should be in good shape.
