I bought a new Windows XP disk and installe it afew weeks ago.
Today when i booted up something came up about significant hardware changes
and asked me to re-activate Windows.
Every time I try re-activating it I get a message saying that the key is
invalid.
What is going on and how do I sort this out?
I've phoned cstomer support and haven't managed to get anything from it, the
time I was offered a new key I got the problem of my computer not being able
to start up and now that I can start it up they won't offer it to me anymore.

You should be able to call the phone activation center and activate it
using automated assistant. If this doesn't work, it will send you to
a real person. Don't tell them that you are asking for an activation
number for a second or third time, just say it's your first time.
This usually works for me.

Ok then thanks for that.
I called microsoft again and got myself a new key it's been activated and I
got it saved and written down
