Re-activate XP?

I have my XP activated on a blank hard drive. I want to install
this hard drive into my WindowsME computer. Do I have to format the XP
drive, install it and then reinstall XP? If so can I, then, re-activate
it? When I originally installed XP I used the WindowsME machine,(without
the ME hard drive), so the internal pc components will be the same.
Thanks for help.

You may not have to completely reinstall WinXP. If you install the XP
hard drive as the Master, and set the old one as the slave, you may be
able to get away with a 'repair' install. You shouldn't have any trouble
accessing the old ME drive, although you probably won't be able to boot
ME after the installation.
