I'm hoping this is a simple question for you Excel pros out there...

I am compiling data from 200 surveys in which respondents were asked to
rank their top 10 items from a list. How can I analyze this data to
determine the overall rankings of the items? I am envisioning that
each row will have each respondent's #1 item, the next row #2, etc.,
but not sure how to actually analyze the data.

Thanks a lot.

Use an inverted weighting:

Say the list was dogs and each response listed the top ten favorite breeds.
If a response said that number #1 was Pug, assign it a 10. If the number two
was beagle, assign it a 9, etc. Then move on to the next response.

Then add up all the values for the various breeds. The bigger the total for
a given breed, the higher its ranking should be.

Finally sort the data by total score, descending
