Random reboots

Paul

I just reinstalled XP Pro on my machine, and installed
SP1 and all security patches. Aside from this rebooting
problem, everything is running fine and snappy.

Computer details:
SOYO K7V Dragon Plus motherboard
AMD Athlon XP+ 1800
OS - XP Pro, sp1, DX9
Firewall - ZoneAlarm Pro, lastest version
Network - 2 computers networked with a Linksys Router
(other computer running XP Home)
Antivirus - NOD32, latest version, latest defs

Problem details:
Computer reboots at seemingly random intervals.
Occasionally will see a blue screen on reboot (about 1/2
the time). Blue screen varies - last time it said "Stop:
c0000221 unknown hard error. \systemroot\system32
\ntdll.dll"

The only NON MS certified driver installed, is the Ultra
100 Family driver for my SOYO K7V Dragon Plus
motherboard. Could this be the cause??? If so, what can
I do about it (I need this device so I can access my
other hard disks).

No known viruses/worms/trojans on my system.

Thanks in advance!

Aloha!

Try disabling automatic restart option:

* Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and
Recovery.

Click to clear the Automatically restart check box under
System failure, and then click OK.

The error message on a blue screen should remain on the
screen so you can record the error information.

Good Luck !!

Thanks for the response, but...

That was the first thing I did after I installed XP. The
problem is I am not getting any bluescreen. The computer
just reboots (it's like someone hits the reset button).
Other times, I have received bluescreens as opposed to a
reboot, so I know that at least that part is working.
When this happens, it is sudden and there is no
misbehaving at all...
