Need software to copy a limited number (eg - 100) of randomly
selected files from a large library (eg - 1000) of *.mp3 files ... <<
Many options... to begin with, using file explorer, you can hold the
<ctrl> key down while making the selection then copy or move the
randomly selected files to a new location.
Since you mention mp3, WMP has a "sync option" where you have a number
of ways to collect filenames to a "sync list" (for example, taking a
playlist and generating a sync list from it) then "sync" the list to a
player or memory card attached to the pc.
Since wmp doesn't sync to different folder, you can use a memory card or
player hard drive to collect the files, then copy them back to a new
folder on the same hard drive.
I'm trying to avoid having to click individual files or select by
hand. I need something that'll pull say 70 files at random from my
collection; then a different 70, etc., etc. ...
