random checking of cdrw

Installed XP SP2 and now my computer checks my cdrw about every 5 minutes for
about 5 seconds. Really annoying when trying to listen to music b/c of the
"blips" it makes.

Have checked Task Manager for anything running in the background. Found
"Directcd.exe" and ended process, but this does not stop it.

Any reason why it would be doing this and how to stop it?
