I have random BSOD crashes on an ASUS A7V600 + AMD Barton 1833 Mhz (2500+)
based system, even after, or especially, after updating the system via WU.

This also happens on a clean install.

Sending the error report to MS opens a web page, telling me, that a device
driver caused the problem, but not the important information, the filename,
and what could be the cause to the problem.

Windows XP reports the prossor correctly, but installs the Prossor.sys, and
not the Amdk7.sys,

Anyone with the same problem?

Have you checked for updated motherboard drivers as the ASUS website?

Cari

Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for my motherboard,
VIA 4 in 1, SATA, LAN, BIOS, even searched AMD's website for an updated
driver for the Barton, but found nothing.

This problem also started on my old machine, ASUS A7V KT133A, Duron (Morgan)
1300 Mhz, after updating via WU, a nice and stable system, until I connected
to the internet, and started to use Windows Update, but afterwards it
started to crash randomly.

Can there be a problem with my new GFX-Board, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB,
the BIOS ?

Before reinstalling the machine, Antivir was blamed, at the webpage i was
directed to after sending the error reports, but I don't think that's the
case.

I use a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 as my primary ATA controler, drivers and BIOS
updated to the latest versions from the Promise website.

Run memtest from www.memtest86.com, if you get any errors you either have
foulty hardware, or your motherboard is not correctly detecting the timing
settings of your memory, in that case just manually set them in the BIOS.
