Random Browser Freezes

I am running Windows ME and IE6 on an IBM Netvista computer with 320 MB of
memory. RoadRunner is my ISP. Here's my problem....

When surfing the internet, my browser will suddenly freeze when I click on
an activity. It has frozen occasionally (maybe once per day) under any of
the following conditions:

- minimizing a webpage
- opening a webpage
- moving between webpages by clicking on the link in the "open" tray at the
bottom of screen
- this happens in secure websites and unsecure websites.

Increasing my privacy settings seemed to help some but didn't do away with
the problem. The problem started about the same time that I upgraded to
IE6. At times, I think that it could be caused by poorly designed webpages
but it happens when I least expect it, like in minimizing a webpage. It
just freezes. The mouse cursor won't move, ctl-alt-del won't open, nothing
works so I just have to power down and start back up. Any ideas on what
might be causing this? TIA!

Wayne,
Try the easy fix first. Clear the cache from Internet Options> General>
Delete files and Delete offline content. Set the TIF folder size to about 50
MB.

Then see:

And it wouldn't hurt to scan for malware:

Don, I'm going to follow your instructions, piecemeal. I've done your first
recommendation, pertaining to the Internet Options, etc... I've not had the
problem today since I did it so maybe that will help without the other fixes
but we'll see. I like to go one step at a time and then verify the results,
if any. I'll ping you if I get it fixed. Thanks again!
