Every few days when I switch on the computer the following message appears
on the desktop.

'RAMASST
The Windows XP standard CD-R/RW writing function is active. To write to
DVD-RAM discs, this function must first be turned off. Do you wish to
deactivate it?
(Should you choose to deactivate here, you can still activate the Windows XP
standard CD-R/RW write function by turning on the "This Driver's CD Write
Function" setting in the DVD Multi Drive property.)'

This is followed by a YES option and a NO option. Whichever I click, the
message disappears but I cannot see what changes have been made by this
action.

Where does this message come from? Why does it appear every few days? Where
can I see any reference to the Windows XP standard CD-R/RW write function?
and where can I find the setting mentioned in the final sentence?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
