I thought I knew memory designations, until I see this at Dell:
"256MB Shared DDR SDRAM at 333MHz (Performs at 266MHz for 400FSB systems)"

What could that mean? I'm guessing it has installed DDR333 PC2700 memory. What
does the 'performs at' language mean here? Thanks.

Depends on where you saw that written. Sometimes on boards with
built-in video, the system RAM is shared with the GPU, and they call the
system RAM "shared" for that reason.

This is a PC2700 (DDR333) memory module, running on a 333MHz effective
front-side bus (166MHz doubled).

If this module were installed on a 400MHz effective FSB system (200MHz
doubled), it would perform as if it were a PC2100 module (DDR266). Such a
system would normally take PC3200 (DDR400) for maximum performance.

The "shared" term probably means that the system RAM is shared with the
onboard video adapter. I'd have to see more of the advertisement to say
for certain.
