RAM not shown correctly

I am new to XP Home, and just built a new box with all new guts which includes a good stick of 512 mb RAM. However after the intial Post, I see only 128 mb shown.? I go through Control Panel-> System and I see 512 mb...which is true? Can I change the disply for piece of mind?
 
Hope you've got a receipt for that RAM....I'd suspect that someone sold you 128MB labeled as 512MB

What CP - System says is what windows is finding and using. I expect
your BIOS has a setting for a 'Quick POST' which is only partly checking
memory.
