What is the content of the blue screen? That may be a clue.

Try removing the old RAM and running with just the new 512 mb for a
day or so. Still getting the blue screens?

Is the old RAM exactly the same specs as your new RAM (e.g. PC3200 CL2
or whatever the actual spec is)? Windows XP is highly sensitive to
mismatched RAM modules and blue screen errors are not uncommon under
those conditions.

Good luck
