I have a Radeon 9000 AGP video card on a Compaq Presario 5888. I have
recently upgraded to XP Home and installed the SP2 patch. Every is still
working great. Should I stay with the default ATI drivers that XP installed
during the installation process or should I download the latest Catalyst
suite from ATI (version 4.8)? I could not find anything on the ATI website
about SP2. Also, I read that OpenGL drivers for ATI cards were not included
on the XP install CD.

Anyone have experience in this area?

Hello Michael,
I have both SP2 and ati catalyst 4.8 installed (Radeon 9600SE). Everything
seems okay. There is a driver update which
was posted on 09/02/04. Be sure to check that one out.
BTW, are you having any problems with your screensaver?? A problem cropped
up with my screensaver after installing the abovementioned AGP card on my
system some weeks back ,( Has nothing to do with SP2).
384 RAM ,864 MHz, P3
Thanks.

I just finished the Catalyst 4.8 installation and all seems good. I wasn't
installing a new card...I have had the Radeon 9000 for a few years now. I
was just concerned about being able to use OpenGL if I needed it. I have not
had any problems with screen savers that I know of. I usually use the
SlideShow screensaver. Thanks again for your reply to my previous post.

Mike
