Sounds like something is very wrong with that video card, It's drawing way
too much current.
Maybe a bad capacitor? Are any of them bulging?

are you using the pigtail supplied by ATI?
There are a few instances where this has failed.
Get rid of the 'extension' pigtail and go direct to the Molex on the PSU.
This is NOT a desired situation, you need to find the reasons for this....
low voltage burn?
High voltage burn
Power supply is using the wrong gauge wire
Video card is pulling way to much wattage
agp slot is faulty, or something shorting across the terminals within the
slot.
power connector is corroded/oxidized on the vid card
I have 9800's this is not the case with either of them

I have an ATI AIW 9800 (with a TV tuner). It needs power from my PSU (Q-tec
450w).

Sometimes when I switch my computer on it starts beeping and telling me to
re connect the power to the Radeon. When I look at the plug, the end where
the red wire is has gone totally black and is burnt out. I've already ruined
the only two floppy style power connectors on my psu and now I've started
using molex convertors but I'm getting through those pretty quickly!

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this?
