Quote Marks & Apostrophes in Messages

Messages I receive from certain sources often have weird symbols in place of
the quotation marks or apostrophes the writer intended. Is there something
I can do about this?

I notice that the same message on a different computer will have the
punctuation correct, so there must be something going on with mine.

Thank you for the reply. View | Encoding shows as: Western European
(Windows). Are you thinking I need to change that to something else?

Tools > Options > Read does not give that as an option. It does show as an
option under "International Settings." I'll give that a try.

It does not work on messages I've already downloaded. Do I have to wait
until I get another from the same sender?

Yes. Try, e.g., Unicode (UTF-8).

Sorry, I omitted " International Settings " by mistake.
As to the messages you already have downloaded, I don't know . How about
forward that message to yourself and see what happens ?
Please be aware that I am not an expert, just regular user.
