Quirky recent file list

My "recently used files" list is quirky. It doesn't show the file
recently used; instead it shows the last files saved. So if I sav
"Book A" and open previously saved "Book B," "Book C," "Book D," etc
only Book A shows up in the list. Is that the way this is supposed t
work?

In some versions of Excel, the list doesn't include files that were
opened from Windows Explorer, and not saved.
