quickbooks installation problem

I am trying to install quickbooks 2001 pro on an XP
system. I keep getting a message that there are "file
operations pending" and to restart the system. The
quickbooks support people say it is a system problem.
Does anyone know where I can find these supposed "pending
file operations"??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
 
My understanding is MS Virtual Machine must be installed
prior to installing QuickBooks.

Download & install MS Virtual Machine Build 3805.
Then visit the Windows Update website to obtain the
security updated version (Build 3810).
