Quick way of inputting time?

I'm working on a spreadsheet that requires me to enter daily elapsed times over a two-month period for employees. Is there an easier and quicker way of entering say, 2:23, instead of always entering the colon? It would be great if I could just enter 223 and have a formula that would convert it to 2:23. This would save me tons of time since I'm always screwing up when going after the colon on the keyboard.
