Hi there,

WinXP Prof

Does the different icons in the taskbar take up RAM? From what I have read
somewhere icons as shortcuts on the deskapd take up memory.

I always choose software not to place a shortcut on the quick launch
because I'm not sure if it unnecessary eats memory.

Thanx for your help.

Everything on your computer takes up memory - that's what the memory is
*for*. The amount of memory used for icons on the Desktop and on the
taskbar is infinitesimally small. Use your computer to its fullest and
enjoy it. This isn't DOS or Windows 95 any more.

The word "eats" implies that it uses a lot of memory. That's not correct. It
uses a tiny amount.

Put a shortcut on the Quick Launch Bar if you find it useful to have there.
Refrain from putting it there if it isn't useful. Nothing else is important.
Ignore the tiny amount of memory it may use.

Thanx to the both of you for the advice.
