I just started having a problem with my computer. After
restarted my computer because it froze, trying to log on
my profile ended up immediately restarting the computer.
This happened numerous times in a row, and as I am the
only user, I tried logging on to the guest account. This
worked but because it was the guest account I had no
authority to change anything. I then logged off and tried
once again to log on my account. This time it worked but
when everything finished loading I noticed that the quick
launch toolbar was missing, this was alarming to me
because I had many shortcuts in my quicklaunch. I tried
right-clicking the toolbar to create another quick launch
and I only get an error message saying it cannot be
created. I also tried click properties and checking the
box next to "show quick launch" yet nothing happened after
clicking apply and ok. After clicking properties again I
found the same boxed still unchecked. I have no clue why
my computer is doing this. I have norton antivirus with
all the latest updates as well as norton system works.
Please help me!!!!!

I don't have an answer, but this is alarming. I've seen
a couple of other postings with the same problem where
just recently the quick launch disappeared. I have the
same problem and I've been trying all of the suggestions
that have been given, but nothing works. Since it seems
to be occurring to more than a couple of people at
approximately the same time, I have to wonder if it's not
some type of virus. I, too, have Norton and actually
just upgraded to the 2004 version the same day that my
toolbar left. Anyone out there know what might be
happening?? We need help. Thanks!

I have the same problem. It kept rebooting with a profile permissions
issue. If you hit OK or let the count down timer expire, it just
reboots. I had to start in safe mode, create a new Admin account then
updated my normal accout to hopefully write the correct permissions.
This seemed to work but no Quick Launch and when you select it under
properties, the check disapears when you reopen and if you right click
on the tack bar and go to toolbars, and select Quick Launch, it states
"Cannot Create Toolbar". Also, all the Toolbar fix stuff doesn't work
as they only look to see if the folder exists and if not, it creates
one. Well the folder does exist with all the shortcuts in it. Need
help too. I to have Norton 2004 with the latest update, ran SpyBot and
AdWare 6.0. found nothing. I feel there is still something lurking in
my PC and I agree, this is alarming! Thanks, Rob
