Quick Launch lock-up

Hi,

My PC (with Service Pack2) has recently developed a problem where, although
the Quick Launch Icons correctly start each program, right-clicking to
rename or see their Properties results in the PC locking up.

Coincidentally (maybe) System Restore only had one Restore Point recently
taken, whereas when I've previously looked, it had months. On some
occasions, after lock-up, a message showing Dr Watson recovery (not aware I
had this program!) cannot continue, arises.

Any help would be appreciated.
