how do i create a back up cd-rom disk to back up my
registry and restore drives in xp home edition? i do not
have any disks that came with this because everything was
per-loaded when i bought the computer. i afraid if the
system crashes, i will need a startup disk and not have
one.

You will need a third party disk imagining application such as Powerquest
(now Symantec) Drive Image or Symantec Ghost

once i buy ghost, is it a stand alone disk....i mean do i just run that when
i need to run my restore disk after a system crash, or will those programs
allow me to make a copy of my restore drive(D:).....i noticed that if i'm in
"my computer", i can right click on this drive(D:) and there is a "copy" that
i can highlight...will this allow me to make a copy of that drive to , say my
cd-rom E: drive?

Your computer manufacturer's support group should be able
to assist you in making restore discs to use in the event
you need to restore your computer to the condition it was
in when they shipped it. It took 6 blank CDs to make a
restore set for my Compaq computer.
Third-party drive-imaging software would allow you to
restore your computer to its condition at the time the
image was made.
