I loaded the ClearType Tuner (New) from Microsoft's latest powertoy update.
This certainly makes my screen test more clear/sharper and easier to red.

I have a friend who is virtually blind (macular degeneration) who uses his
computer (but barely) with a product called Zoom Text. With the necessary
enlargement of text to 10X the text is somewhat jagged and difficult to read
at the best of times. Would "ClearType Tuner (New)" get rid of the jaggies?
Would "ClearType Tuner (New)" work with Win 98?

Thanks,

Bob

Clear type does not work with Win9x OS's, NT or 2k - it was an enhancement
for XP/2k3 OS's and works only with LCD type displays. If your friends PC
meets the above criteria, then try loading it and find out, as I don't know
how it would react in combination with the "Zoom Text" feature.

While I don't have any use for a "Zoom Text" feature I have to say that I
have been using ClearType at 1152x864 with my good old ViewSonic GS771 - a
17" CRT monitor - and it really makes a difference in the readability of
everything.

Thanks for the info to both you and "Star Fleet Admiral Q".

Somehow I missed his original reply and unable to locate my orig question on
newsgroup.

Apparently this "clear type" doesn't work on desktop CRT monitor, but I
swear mine is easier to read since I installed it...
