Windows XP has its own Add/remove program in the Control Panel.

Is there any advantage to buying an external program like Add/Remove 2003?
Can these external programs do anything that Win XP cannot do better?

Thanks for any input

I don't know about Add/Remove 2003 but I do know that if you always rely on
the Add/Remove Control Applet, it doesn't always remove all of the installed
files. There are alot of programs that seem to leave behind a couple of files
and/or registry settings.

I used CleanSweep and it seems to always find some that are left behind. I
always make a backup of the files CleanSweep deletes in case other programs
need them.

Sometimes Windows add/remove program wizard will not be
able to remove certain items from the registry or other
places. Third-Party programs claim to be able to do better
than the Windows version. Tentatively there should be
little or no problem with a little fluff being left behind
in the registry or elsewhere, but if you are a power user
or need every bit of your storage space, a third-party
program would be helpful. If you are going to buy such a
program, make sure you get one that will be worth your
time and money, many no-name products will be more of a
hindrance than a help.
