I am hearing two sounds from my WXP PRO as it sits there idle. I have
looked at ControlPanel>Sounds and find that the sounds are for 'device
disconnect' followed by 'device connect'. Besides the fact that this
sequence seems backwards, I am wondering what 'device' is involved.
What does XP call a 'device',

Thanks

Jethro

Hi Jethro,

Do you have a USB device connected that may be intermittently cutting out?
You might also want to check the Power Management settings in Device Manager
for the USB Root Hub(s).....uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this
device to save power" setting and see if that then stops the sounds from
occurring.

Regards,
