I have a dive computer which uses parallel cable or serial to download info to computer. XP does not support the parallel connection, so for XP, must use serial. Just purchased a IBM laptop that has NO serial port.

Is there any driver available to support the parallel cable download on XP????

Is there a reliable serial to parallel adapter on the market

Any suggesstions??

Thanks in advanc

[[A direct cable connection is a link between the input/output (I/O) ports
of two computers by using a single cable rather than a modem or other
interfacing device. In most cases, you make a direct cable connection with a
null modem cable. You can use a direct cable connection to transfer
information between the computers to exchange files, access resources, and
so on.]]

Belkin, www.belkin.com , should have a convert you can use.

Wesley,
I'm not sure if you can help me. I am trying to use my Windows XP Desktop PC to connect to a laptop by a direct cable connection using the parallel port. The parallel port is not listed in the connection device drop down list, only my 2 COM ports.

The parallel port seems to be working OK and I have used it to connect to a printer before, although now I use a USB connection. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the parallel port. I have used a few utilities that indicate that the port is available.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,
Wayne
