Question: DVD drive with no brand.

Does anyone know of any software I could use to know the brand/ makers of my
dvd drive?
I have a region 2 dvd drive with no visible brand on it. I need the brand
because I want to update the firmware to make it region free, or at least
know if it can be updated. I have tried a diagnostic tool from "The
firmware-flash page"- http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php but it just says "IDE
dvd drive" and to the best of my knowledge IDE is not the name of a company,

Are there any serial numbers you could Google for? I've had to do that with
cheap modems in the past.
