Question about XP or win 2000

Hi, I have a general question, which is probably stupid,
but I really don't know. I purchased my computer used. I
want to know if windows XP is the same as windows 2000
professional built on NT Technology . This is what it
says when I turn on computer and it is loading program.
Can anyone help? Thanks

WinNT 3.51 2nd public release, Win3.x-like interface
WinNT 4.0 3rd public release, Win95-like interface
WinNT 5.0 4th public release, Win98SE-like interface,
marketed as "Windows 2000"
WinNT 5.1 5th public release, new interface, marketed as
"Windows XP"

Yes -or rather it is the next version on, win2000 is NT 5.0 and XP is
NT 5.1
Some improvements in the core, at the level indicated by the .1, and a
new shell level GUI
