Hey,

I contacted my computer manufacturer regarding a problem I
was having with it, and afterwards I asked him about my
problem while trying to upgrade to Windows XP Pro from
Windows 98 SE. He said that Windows 98 SE was only meant
for processors up to 2.2 GHz and mine is 2.8. He said
that I would need to call Microsoft about a file that I
would need to download in order to do the Windows CP Pro
upgrade. So what I am asking is if anyone can verify this
and possibly tell me what file I need if it is true.
Thank you.

That is a new one to me if any operating system is limited as to what speed
processor it can run. It just doesn't sound right. The only issue I have
seen is a very old DOS program that runs too fast on the newer systems and
then you can get a separate program that slows down the computer cycles to
run the old DOS program in some cases. What you might consider is instead of
trying to upgrade 98, leave it on the computer on C: and install XP onto D:
or another letter. This way you still have 98 just in case. I'll be
interested if someone else posts anything about that speed issue.
