Is there a place where one can just download the programs themselves
instead of downloading the updates straight into the computer for XP
Home Edition? I would like to get all of the updates and upgrades and
such so that when I do reformat I could just install them without
having to download and install via the Windows Update page. Any help
with this please????

Once you have all your hotfixes from microsoft update in your machine, you
can download the belarc advisor - free. It will tell you your updates within
your machine. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html. Then with this, go
to microsoft download an look up each kb reference #, and download them again
and save them in your documents in a special folder for them.
Then go to nlite - free and download their free slipstreamming tool
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html. Then with your windows xp cd put that
in first and open the nlite utility tool and place the contents of your
windows xp cd into a special folder in my documents.

Follow the prompts them to then incorporated them together. That's what I
did, and it worked for me. All though I did not incorporate the net
framework fixes into the cd as they are self loading fixes, so when I'm
finished downloading the fixes from my CD I will then go to microsoft update
and download those fixes, which maybe 5 or 6 perhaps instead of 100 or so!!

Hope this helps, I wish microsoft will give us more advice on how to
slipstream their fixes from them, or gives us a rollup update with all these
100 and some fixes in it, or service pack 3 now (not til 2008).

Take care, Robyn

MS would have told us about that, but they had no idea there would be any
updates needed. <vbg>
