My understanding is that Microsoft will be releasing Express Editions of all
their programming languages in addition to Visual Studio 2005. I was
wondering if there will also be professional editions sold.

Team System
Professional
Standard
Express

The Professional is more like the Enterprise products today, minus some
bells and whistles. The Standard is more like the Professional today (the
Standard today is, IMO, better called Learning). Express is for hobbiests
and comes in at a really low price. Team System, the grandaddy of all VS
2k5s is a real Enterprise system.

This is how I understand it from the current documentation on the MS site.
Whether any of this will change before final release is anyone's guess. I
venture a "no", but that is just an educated guess.

I did not see any mention of a Standard or a Professional version. I just saw
the Express Editions mentioned. Is there a link that talks about these other
versions?

Well I think it's good that their offering Visual Studio 2005 in a variety of
editions. I was wondering if they are going to be offering their individual
programming languages in a variety of editions also(like Standard and
Professional) but I guess not.
