I have a retail copy of Windows XP Pro. I was wondering if I am able to use
this (and it's key) to make a new, custom CD. On this CD I would se my
Norton 2003, Printer Drivers, Motherboard Driver, etc. all in sub folders.
Ideally, I would be able to boot to this CD, select the partition I want to
install to and walk away. Is there some way to include these files AND bet
able to enter my CD Key in some kind of config file? I am pretty sure there
is a way to do it, but not 100%.. (And yes, I know I would still have to
activate it, but since I am not changing hardware anytime soon, a CD like
this would save me having to juggle multiple CD's on my OS load.

Gorden, if you want a really good bootable XP cd with
extra folders do a google search for; bart's bootable cds
The site contains everything you need to create all sorts
of bootable cds, darren.

Windows (all versions) **MUST** boot from a primary partition on the
first physical disk of a computer. Windows will not boot from a CD. In
addition to reading many thousands of settings at boot time from the System
Registry, the operating system needs to write on an ongoing basis to the
hard disk while it is operating, and obviously, it cannot do that on a CD,
which, among many other things, does not have sufficient room to hold an
install of Windows any more.

I don't want to run windows form the CD. I want to have one CD (or even DVD
if I want office too) that:

Installed Windows XP
Auto enters my info, including my CD Key
Applies all the outstanding updates post SR1 (I have them all saved)
Installs Hardware drivers, Norton and some other apps with no input from me.

The link I posted has a walk through to do this, even instructions on how to
include Office on your DVD if you have a DVD burner...
