I recently decided to upgrade to a new computer by
building one myself. I have 2 drives, and XP is currently
on one of them (since I decided to use the 2 drives from
my old computer on the new one). I got the computer all
made and set up right, but it does not want to load
windows. I decided that I might want to reinstall windows
with a CD I have. But before I do so, I want to know if I
reinstall windows, will it erase all my existing data
including programs and software that is on the currently
on the drives? I dont want to have to reinsall everything
again. Thanks for your support.

If you are going just to redo the installation part
without reformating the hard drive , Then i believe it
wouldn't remove whatever you have on the hard drive ...
Only time it will wipe everything off is when you
reformat the hard drive and delete the partition and
reinstall the partition

Boot from the xp cd and do a repair install, that won't trash your old
stuff. But back up anything you don't want to loose.
