Query to show records under a dollar amount.

I have a table with account balances. I am trying to query the records to
return all records with an a/c balance under $50,000.00. What would the
criteria be?
 
If you'll post your solution, other folks who run into a similar situation
may be able to benefit from what you found.

If I was wanting only the records that had an account balance over $50k, in
the grid field the a/c balance on the query field I entered the criteria of
