query parameter combo box

I was trying to use a parameter to open a query.
I looked at this page:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011170771033.aspx
I downloaded and opened the "Using Parameters with Queries and Reports.mdb"
but even when I try to run the query in that file i get a window that repeats
what was in the criteria: [Forms]![Sales By Category Dialog]![Category]
instead of having it access the actual form.

Dear Jarred:

You should not expect to get a prompt for that unless:

The form isn't open at the moment

The form isn't named exactly as [Sales By Category Dialog]

There is no property of the form [Category]

Consider checking these items first.
