I was told to turn off QoS (uncheck in Network Connections) as a solution to
not being able to send voice out of Windows Messenger. I currently can hear
and see others I talk to but they can not hear me even though the voice bar
moves up and down as I talk.

Can someone tell me what QoS is and what might happen if I turn it off.

I have a DELL xps 3.0 machine with Audigy sound card, am on cable modem
hook-up using comcast.

Thanks,
SirLar

"The fix was to uncheck the QoS Packet
Scheduler in the properties of the network card (Control
Panel>network connection (right click on the NIC)
properties. This cleared it up for me. Messenger uses
UPnP which uses a bunch of ports to go through a router,
therefore you need a UPnP router."

Thank you very much. Turning Qos off solved my voice problem...

To date I have seen no bad results from not having it active
