Hi , I have been researching a solution for my company's massive data
gathering srevers. We build servers that gather customer phone calls and
needless to say storage availablity is key. I have gathered a number of kb
articles and how to's and hopefully with find time to build a lab server this
week to try it out, in the interum I was hopeing someone who has played with
DFS might be able to verify my concept.
Here is what i need to have happen.....
Our program writes to the g:\ drive which is typicaly a scsi raid unit, or
two or three mapped or softraided(windows) together. What this doesn't
provide is if a raid unit goes down or is rebuilding, current data collection
is hindered or stopped. What I am looking dfs to do is take two or more
storage host systems that are running dfs to present to my data collection
system a location to map G: to. They enviroment I am trying to create, is if
location x is not functioning location y seemlessly is covering locations
x's slack, I pretty much need g:\ to be alway on and always available to the
client system.
We typicly deploy the servers with w2k server so finding a solution with the
tools already in my systems would be ideal.
Anyways thanks for any insight...
